Overview:

The Participate in a Rescue Operation course is run over one day. This course will provide participants with the fundamental skills to rescue individuals from an emergency situation. Participants will work under supervision in a team but may be responsible for completing individual tasks relating to rescue.

Pre-requisites:
• HLTAID003 Provide first aid

Long sleeves and long pants, Appropriate safety footwear

Content:

  • Prepare and respond to rescue
  • Contribute to hazard identification and risk assessment
  • Identify, select and prepare the necessary rescue equipment
  • Conclude rescue operations
  • Identify the need for emergency care
  • Assess the casualty and implement emergency care
  • Communicate appropriately with casualties and emergency services personnel
  • Clean and maintain equipment
  • Accurately complete required documentation in line with legislative, regulatory and organisational requirements

Assessment:
Students learning outcomes will be assessed using practical activities designed to simulate the work environment and written questions as appropriate. Upon successful completion of the course, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment.
